The infamous wedding thing

As much as I hate to spread rumours, I decided it would be better to translate accurately what was already published in the japanese gossip mags before the rumours get worse. I don't care what you may have read on other BBSes, what follows is an accurate translation of the original Suponichi news article. The one on yahoo is virtually identical, I believe it to be a reprint.

tetsu of L'Arc and Sakai Ayana to marry

On November 17th, it was discovered that the leader and bassist of popular rock group L'Arc~en~Ciel, tetsu (age 38) and popular idon Sakai Ayana (22) are to be married. They began seeing each other during the summer of last year. Finally, they visited each other's parents and reported to their close acquaintances that they will marry. Sakai has said "When I get married, I want an audience to see it", but we are still waiting for official confirmation early this week.

It will be a shocking wedding to the young fans of both this charismatic musician and idol. The age difference between them is of 16 years. As a fashion model for magazine "Ray", Sakai had the opportunity to meet the members of L'Arc, or so her model coworkers have said.

They started seeing each other last summer. Sakai was seen on both consecutive days of last November's concerts in Tokyo Dome (Translator Note : That would be 15th L'Anniversary), and this year she was seen at the arena tour dates of Kagoshima and Sendai, where she watched her lover on stage.

Their dating spots include movie theatres and Karaoke boxes. Looking at both of their blogs, mysteries become clear. They talk about the same movies, and on July 24th Sakai used the expression "Awa awa shitete", which is a rather unique way of speaking, then three days later tetsu used the same expression, showign that they speak similarly. Along with their way of speaking, they have similar taste in fashion, and both have said publically that they like pink.

According to inside sources, this September they announced it to their parents, and this October tetsu dined in a restaurant with Sakai's parents. It was finally announced to other close people on the 17th of this month, and it is expected that an annoucement will come directly from them in the next few days.

Incidentally, Sakai approached a designer this last August and had a wedding dress designed, called "Aya natural", and stated publically "I want to get married when I'm 26. When it happens I want to have an audience". She also said "I am still such a child, so I would like a partner who is older than me." "When the time comes, I hope the one who comes for me will have long hair", one can imagine tetsu in this line. Once the wedding announcement arives early this week, the day of their joyous wedding should also be confirmed.

Probably coz he's always kinda avoiding the whole marriage topic.

There's always been rumours about them dating, but I never thought to take it seriously. So they're not rumours after all.

I'm kinda glad that he's finally "settling down" now.

He also said he'd never dye his hair blond again, then was blond within a year of saying so.

The guy can change his mind.

but really, thanks for the translation -- much nicer than reading words here and there of rumours.

*SCREAM* OMG OMG OMG OMG!! This is the first I've heard of this rumor! (Thanks for translating and sharing the real story, nanani!) I can't believe it! I want to believe it. I really want tetsu to be happy! I used to worry that he'd never find someone, but whoever this girl is, I hope they're in love and are good for each other. OH TETSU! *HUGGLE* (This of course does not mean I will ever stop loving him or drooling over him. I don't care if he's taken.)
But how reliable is this gossip mag? And how the heck did they match up their blog post subjects and their meeting the parents and have they already reported their dating since last summer?
This is so weird! tetsu's been so pink and gay lately, and it turns out, it's just tetsu being in love and genki!

I have no idea how reliable the mag is, but it's better to translate it than let out of control rumours based on half-mangled translations spread. If more news comes out I'll follow up on it. It WAS reprinted by yahoo news, so I guess that's a sign of reliability?

If more pink and gay is what comes out of him getting married, then damn I am behind that 100%!!

Haha I am very not surprised that he (may) end up with someone who's that much younger than him. He's a kid at heart, so having someone younger is good for him, he won't feel like he needs to grow up. But at the same time, he needs to take care of her, and I think that he'd enjoy that as well. So it's a good mix of both, I think it suits him as he's both mature, and he's a kid, all at the same time.

Yep he IS Takumi, as he insists himself. Rereading the manga I can see him as Takumi so easily (Except for the height.) I just hope he doesn't get stuck with someone as dumb as Hachi. (GOD I hate her. I jsut want to throw hammers at her head). And hyde is SO Reira. XD;

Thanks for translating the article. I'm in Japan right now and I just woke up ungodly early and the first thing I saw on TV was the morning TV hosts showing a page from a tabloid which had a large photo of Ayana in the wedding dress (obvious it was a fashion show though) and a small (and totally out-dated) photo of tetsu and then it was gone and I'm like WAIT, WTF!? I knew if I went online and checked, you would have some sort of explanation, and you did! XD

Shocking, tetsu's always been private but it did sound as if he was actually opposed to the idea of marriage seeing as he recently stated he never goes to them. Weird... I guess we need to wait it out to see what else develops.
